Hello World,
So, the title is a bit grandiose I think, but it fits. In my life people ask why I study what I do, why I am passionate about the few things I am, and why I spend so much time thinking about so many topics and the current state of geopolitical affairs. This is first, because I am a student who is majoring in Political Science and minoring, but this might change to double majoring, in International Studies. They then ask "Why" or "What are you going to do with that", and to them I generally respond with some comment about my goal jobs and such, but I never really give the true reason, because they might lock me up. And that my friends is because I Want to Save the World. This sounds a bit crazy, I know, and its mainly because too many times do I hear peoples goals are self satisfactory, which this is also, but are not going to help anyone even though it is mainly self satisfaction. See, in my view, while I am doing this for myself, everyone gets to benefit from a better world. Now, I don't mean I want to put on spandex or try and travel around in a police call box from the 60's, but I want to attempt to make real changes that really benefit people, and through that, I will be making the world a better place, and saving it from the people who decided being uneducated and hateful was cool. Why is it such a bad thing to want to be educated, to want to be the intelligentsia of your society, instead of someone who is going to spend the rest of their days being led like sheep. Why is it okay to foster this in your children. I was raised by a person who graduated High School and joined the Army and a High School dropout, both of whom did their best raising me, through the good and bad parts of life, but at no point did either of them preach exclusion, hate, or that it was okay to be stagnate in life. They told me that I needed to strive to be a good student, be smart, and do better than they did with their lives, but not in that pushy way that some parents do. You know what I mean, the folks who want to relive their glory days as High School Kings and Queens through their 7 year old on the pee-wee football field.
So, anyways, back to somewhere on point, I will be traveling soon to Europe, and I am going to be doing whats pretty much backpacking. I will be gone for round about 38 days, and intend to do a lot of fun and neat things, along with brag to all of you about it here. After which, I am going to try to remember to keep this thing going through my last year of college, and maybe even further, just to keep people interested. Who knows, maybe I will be the next (insert famous blogger).
